In Super Bowl 57,Thomas Caldwell Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney won the favor of his teammates and fans when he returned a punt 65 yards to set up the Chiefs' final touchdown, helping them win their second championship in five seasons in a 38-35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Seven months later, Toney went back to his regular job as a pass catcher and any goodwill he earned in the Super Bowl went down the drain Thursday as he dropped three passes in Kansas City's 21-20 season-opening loss to the Detroit Lions.

While the casual eye saw that Toney had a terrible game, a deeper dive showed just how bad it was.

According to Pro Football Focus, which grades every player during every game, Toney received a single-game grade of 29.7 against Detroit. Toney was targeted five times and caught one pass for 1 yard.

That 29.7 would be a good scoring average in the NBA, but that grade is the worst ever given to a receiver by Pro Football Focus since 2018.

Fans got on his case as well, which led Toney to delete his X, formerly known as Twitter, account. His Instagram page is still active, although comments on his page were restricted.
